Bojan Cercek, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Cercek, a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), is Director of Coronary Care Units at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Co-Director of the Atherosclerosis Research Center at Cedars-Sinai Research Institute, Professor in Residence, Department of Medicine, University of Califonia, Los Angeles, and Chairman, 4th year Students Cardiology Training Program at the UCLA School of Medicine.

Dr. Cercek’s clinical interests are in fields of clinical cardiology, acute coronary syndromes, and echocardiography. His main research interests are in fields of thrombolysis, arterial wall response to injury, and systemic markers of atherosclerotic plaque instability. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He has been elected Fellow, American College of Physicians, as well as Fellow, American College of Cardiologists. He is also a member of the American Federation for Clinical Research, American Medical Association, American Heart Association - Basic Science Council and Fellow of the Clinical Council, and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

He has published over 90 research articles and chapters in books, and presented around 120 abstracts at major scientific meetings. He has also served as Chairman at various scientific meetings, including the Scientific Sessions of American College of Cardiology and Scientific Sessions of American Heart Association. He also serves as the scientific reviewer for a number of professional journals in cardiovascular medicine, among them Circulation, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Chest, Hypertension, Cardiovascular Research, Clinical Cardiology, and Arteriosclerosis & Thrombosis & Vascular Biology.
